Visiting Information

The Museum’s superb collection is displayed across a 13,000m2 area, the size of 3 football pitches over 2 floors with stair and lift access. There are sitting areas at regular intervals within the Museum for you to catch your breath while you explore our magnificent collection. Toilet facilities are available with full disabled access. The Museum has a recently refurbished Mother and Baby room. There is an excellent café for you to relax and enjoy quality food and drink in a friendly atmosphere. You can finish your journey through the Museum in the shop as you you stop to take home with you an unusual gift or souvenir!

 

Admission

Admission to the Museum is FREE of charge. 

 

 

Disabled Access

Coventry Transport Museum is committed to increasing access both to the Museum and
its collections. Below is information relating to physical access to the Museum.

Floor plans and gallery guides are available from the shop. There is wheelchair access
suitable for unaccompanied wheelchair users to most parts of the Museum. Please ask
for help in accessing Model World.

Pay and display car parking can be found at Cox Street car park, which is opposite the
Coventry sports centre, Bishops Street car park at the rear of the Museum and also at
Belgrade Plaza. Disabled parking is available on request, please contact the Museum during the week to
arrange. Disability access is provided to both floors of the Museum by means of a lift, we also
have a small number of wheelchairs available free of charge for visitors to use whilst at
the Museum. These chairs are allocated on a first come first served basis, although any
advance requests will be considered. Please contact the Museum on 024 7623 4270 for
more information.

The toilets, including disabled facilities, are on the ground floor to the right of the main
entrance beside the café, also on the first floor next to the Motorsport Gallery.
The café is situated to the right of the main entrance and is fully wheelchair accessible.
The shop can be found just after the main entrance underneath the large red archway
which is also the entrance to the Museum itself. To the side of the stairs leading to the
shop is a ramp for wheelchair and buggy users.

Baby changing and breastfeeding facilities are available in the Parent and Baby room on
the first floor next to the Motorsport Gallery. Hot water for baby bottles is available from
the café on request. Assistance/support dogs are welcome at the Museum.

Tours and Activities


Our friendly and enthusiastic Lifelong Learning Team are always thinking of ways to make your Day Out at the Museum more engaging and interesting. Amble around the Museum and you may find one of the Facilitators in costume armed with some interesting historical facts for you to discover or objects to touch and handle. The Museum regularly launches special tours around the Museum organised by the Facilitators. The Museum has a vibrant programme of events and activities throughout the year such as school holiday activities and craft fairs that will keep you busy and creative. 

The Museum is also a favourite venue for several car clubs all over the region to hosts their events. Millennium Place is made available to car clubs to display their vehicles which you can stand back and admire. Visit our Car Clubs page to find out about forthcoming car club events.

Find Out What's On

Photography and filming in the Museum is allowed provided it is strictly for personal use and not for commercial or profit purposes.

The Museum has been awarded the prestigious VAQAS award. The Visitor Attraction Quality Assurance Scheme is run by VisitBritain and is a mark of quality service for all types of visitor attractions throughout England.
