Friends of the Transport Museum
The Friends organisation was established in 1999 with the object of promoting, supporting and assisting the Museum. We do this by fundraising, attending outside events, participating at classic shows with museum vehicles, and providing general help when needed. Several members meet regularly at the Museum for hands-on involvement. From time to time, after completing a driving assessment, we have the opportunity to drive vehicles in the Museums running collection.
Our major project is the creation of a single-decker bus on a 1916 Maudslay chassis. We have raised over £25,000 to date and members began work on the chassis itself in 2007. Our Motorcycle group has completed a number of projects, both full restoration and conservation. The Archive group plays a significant role in the ongoing development of the Museum archives.

There is a monthly Clubnight at the Museum on the third Thursday of the month, featuring a wide range of speakers and topics (see our Blog for details) and there is a monthly Newsletter to keep Friends up to date.
Friend's annual (Jan-Dec) subscription is just £15 per person which represents excellent value.
During 2011 we were able to offer discounts on entry to the Ace Cafe exhibition, and to Guest speaker evenings which more than covered the annual subscription charge. In addition your membership card entitles you to discounts in the Museum shop, and of course there are monthly newsletters, bus trips, and clubnights.
