About the Museum

The Museum is dedicated to collecting and exhibiting the products of a city that changed the world and focuses on the skills and innovation of its people.

The majority of the collection is Coventry built or has a strong connection with the city. Coventry has had nearly 600 companies making cycles, motorcars, commercial vehicles and motorcycles. You can find out about their fascinating histories and see vehicles made by world famous names throughout the Museum.

If you are interested in a specific gallery or exhibit please contact the Museum to check whether it will be open on the day of your visit. The Museum reserves the right to temporarily close or remove some items from show without prior notice.

Vehicles the Museum would like to Acquire

The museum is always looking to improve its collection with significant vehicles built in Coventry. The following is a list of items the museum would like to acquire to make the collection even more representative of vehicles built in and around the city.
• Daimler SP 250 (Dart)
• Triumph TR3
• Triumph TR4
• Triumph TR5
• Pre WW2 Triumph Dolomite
Please contact the Museum on 02476 234270 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting            02476 234270      end_of_the_skype_highlighting or enquiries@transport-museum.co.uk if you have information on the list above.

The Museum is also looking to acquire a 1960’s red Mini Cooper as featured in the film ‘The Italian Job’ for display in the Museum’s ‘Italian Job’ sewer pipe, as the scene where the minis were escaping Turin via the sewer system was shot in some of Coventry’s enormous sewer pipes.

If you can help with securing this iconic car, please contact Steve Bagley – Head of Collections steve.bagley@transport-museum.co.uk
