About the museum

Commercial Vehicles Gallery

In this gallery you can see buses, lorries and tractors.

Coventry has a long history of making Commercial vehicles, with prominent bus and lorry builders Maudslay and Daimler both being situated in the city. In this gallery you can see buses and coaches made by these two companies. One of the outstanding vehicles is a Daimler Fleetline bus which was used in 1987 to transport the victorious Coventry City Football team through the streets of the city centre after they won the FA cup.

The gallery also features a ‘stack’ of three tractors made by the Massey Ferguson Company. In 1946 the first Ferguson TE20 tractor was built at the Company’s Banner Lane factory. The gallery displays one of the first TE20s to be built, and the 500,000. You can also see the last Massey Ferguson tractor to be made in Coventry, which came off the production line in 2002.

Another fantastic vehicle featured in this gallery is a beautifully restored Scammel Highwayman Petrol Tanker made in 1956.
